It was midnight, and as usual Kadie could be found out by the lake. She was leaning against a tree with a bottle of fire whiskey in her hands. She was dressed in a warm black hoodie, and her favorite pair of blue jeans. Her naturally blond colored hair was a brunette color and had been for awhile. It was down, and hung just past her shoulders.
She always came out late at night. She had insomnia really bad. She knew she was breaking rules to be down here this late at night, but she didn't seem to care about breaking the rules lately. A fact that her brother didn't understand much. Of course, he stepped a toe over the line occasionally himself. But Kev was so adored around here that it didn't matter.
Kadie was definitely not adored. She snapped at people. She was cold and distant. She'd become known as the Snow Queen, and many wanted nothing to do with her. Many questioned why she was in Gryffindor. All thought she belonged in Slytherin. Kadie wasn't sure where she belonged anymore. And there had been one time where she'd been perfectly content to be in Gryffindor. She and her brother had once told each other everything and anything. Now, she barely even spoke to him. She barely even confided in anyone these days.
There were many who claimed she had a heart made out of ice. Or that she had no heart at all. She didn't care what people thought of her. She honestly could care less. She did miss her brother. But she'd changed a lot. And there were things that had happened to her that she didn't want to consider even telling him. So, she pushed him away instead. Pushed everyone away. She'd been a flirt before Marcus. She'd liked a lot of guys. In truth, she'd been like any other giddy young girl around this place. Now, she looked at her friends who giggled about guys, and couldn't join them.
It wasn't that she wasn't attracted to guys. She was. In fact, there had been times when she'd been really attracted to them. That's where the flings came in. The flings that were done within two weeks tops. She never let any guy get too close. She was tough, and intimidated a lot of guys and that was just fine with her. She'd vowed to herself that she would never let herself get hurt ever again. She'd never let herself get swept off her feet only to have her heart trampled on. So, she'd become the Snow Queen instead. She could wear that expressionless mask of hers and nobody knew what she was thinking. She shut everybody out. She still had her fun. And at parties she could still be the life of the party. But generally, she was serious and couldn't be figured out. It was the way she preferred things.
After a moment of her staring out into the black lake, she slowly drank a bit of the fire whiskey before lowering it. She didn't really expect anybody else to be out here. This was her usual spot, and she hadn't encountered anyone thus far. But if she did encounter anybody, she hoped it wasn't somebody who would go tattle to her twin brother about her being out here. He was too overprotective. Imagine if he ever found out that she liked to take the occasional night stroll through the forest? He'd probably freak. A fact that brought a glimmer of a smile on her face before it was replaced with her usual expressionless mask.
