It was only a month and a half into the first term of that year, and Zephyr was already bored. They were right when they said that the sixth year was going to be less stressful than the fifth. He could very well remember how that time around during his fifth year, he and his classmates were already swamped with assignments in preparation for the OWL's. Zephyr decided that if schoolwork wasn't going to come, he would do the learning by himself.
He went to the library one afternoon to look for books on Eastern European Magic. He had always been curious about the Wizarding culture in other countries. As he walked by the shelves of the library's reference section, he couldn't help but keep glancing at the Restricted Section at the far end. Zephyr knew that no students were allowed in that area unless permitted by a professor. He himself had never been there, since no professor was generous enough to give an assignment that involved books of the 'Restricted Section' kind.
Zephyr stopped at the end of the reference section and longingly gazed at the shelves at the restricted part of the library. His mind started to go wild with ideas of how he could possibly gain access to those books without getting into trouble. Maybe I could convince Professor Karpov to give me a permission slip. He was one of the best students in his Potions class anyway, so he assumed it would be easy for him to lie about doing some form of research. It could work, he thought to himself as he grabbed a book on the Ukrainian History of Magic and headed for an empty table.

It was one of the first days back from France to hogwarts for Emily. She had after all been studying there for five years now. She terribly missed Beauxbatons and mostly missed all her friends. She really wanted to be there with them at that very instant instead of here at Hogwarts.
She knew it would take time getting adjusted and all to the surroundings but she tried to make it as soon as possible. As a girl who loved to read, she wandered into the Library and pulled out a book from the shelf. The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble It stated and Em definitely loved Defence against the dark arts and gave no excuse to learn more about it.
Deeply engrossed in the book, she had no idea where she was going. Her feet just led her around the library like a miracle. It was the first time when she got to a table without any problems. But there was already someone sitting there. Whom she didn't know and she just went forward and sort of bumped into him, causing her to fall down and the book flying off. (this is before he sat down)
Oh my gosh! she said, shocked at what she had done. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to do it on purpose and I have no idea what's gotten into me. She said, picking up his book, still on her knees and holding it out in her hands. She looked up to take a look at the person who had the misfortune of being bumped into her today and was mesmerized by one look of him. OMG this guy is so cute! she told herself. Woah, first few days back and she had already met a really cute guy. Guess her luck was just on the upside today. There were no guys at Beauxbatons and it was an all-girls school, that was the only sad part. Else the rest were all advantages.

Zeph was still pretty much distracted as he was about to take a seat, and he ended up bumping into something --- or someone. He was nonetheless startled, and he dropped his book; his usually quick reflexes seemed to have abandoned him. His mind barely had time to process what was going on when his eyes fell upon the girl in front of him. She was holding his book and looking at him with that shocked yet rather appealing look on her face.
Zephyr blinked and took back his book, not really knowing how to react. "Thanks," he said softly. He tried to smile a bit. He really wasn't used to speaking to girls, moreover the really pretty ones like this one. It took him a few seconds to realize he was staring at her. "Uhh," he started, gazing around a bit. "Sorry 'bout that. Are you taking this table?" He gestured towards the one right next to them. That was odd. He was usually a lot less nicer than he was at that moment, and his own behaviour surprised him.

Looking into his eyes, she knew that he wasn't the normal kind cute friendly type of guy. But this was different. She knew that he was perfect, even if her wasn't friendly or whatever. She gave a weak smile partly cause she was so mesmerized by his eyes to even think! She just caught the last part of his question and hastily said Um well, yeah I just wanted a place to sit down and read, but I can go somewhere else also. she turned around and started to head out of the room.
She didn't want to be doing this truthfully and wayy deep down in her heart but that's what she had to do. She couldn't just go tell him on his face that she knew there was something about him which made her like him at first sight. With a small smile on her face, of happiness that ashe had met him yet had to leave, she turned around and looked for another free desk. There weren't many students there at all. It was pretty late in the evening and no one would enter in there at such hours and after all she had to patrol the corridors since she was a prefect. Starting to walk away, she hoped that that same voice would call her back.

Zephyr found himself smiling back at her. That wasn't something he usually did either. Normally, he would just nod at someone and try to brush them away. This was probably the nicest he had ever been over the past few days, but he already knew that he wanted to get to know this girl. He could tell she was a Gryffindor, but that didn't bother him at the moment. He was surprised that he had never seen her before, though. A beautiful face like hers shouldn't be hard to notice even in a crowd of uniformed Hogwarts students. She looked like an angel.
At her words, his mouth fell open, but it took him a while to come up with something to say. By that time, she was already starting to walk away from him. Zephyr quickly assembled his thoughts and words and took a step towards the direction where the girl was going. "Oi," he called to her as softly as he could but still loud enough for her to hear. They were still in the library after all. "We could share this table. There's more than enough space for just me." He sincerely hoped she would come back, otherwise he'd just try to console himself that he had at least tried being friendly for a change, even though his intentions were slightly different from wanting to just make friends.

"Oi, We could share this table. There's more than enough space for just me."
A small smile appeared on her lips as soon as she walked only about three steps. Even though it was a little soft, it was loud enough for her to hear and it was the library after all, so everyone had to be soft in their talking. She turned around and replied softly, Okay sure she said with a small smile and held her books or rather clutched her books in her arms and made her way towards the table the cute guy was pointing to.
She sat down, laid her books on the table and opened the page to which she wanted to read. It was highly distracting and she was unable to read cause of that very guy sitting right in front of her. She closed her book, put it aside and looked up at his face. That was the first time she had done that since their meeting. First proper time. He was indeed cute. Thats all she could think of right now.
Desperate for a new conversation, she decided to introduce herself to him and also she really wanted to know his. I'm Emily, Gryffindor 6th year. she said and paused to let him take in what she said. It was kind of loud in all the silence between them, especially in the library. what about you? she asked him.

Zephyr felt his heart skip a couple of beats when she accepted his offer. A smile inevitably formed on his lips as he watched her approach the table and take a seat. He sat right across from her and tried not to look across the table too much. It was the first time ever that he freely offered to share a table with someone. Most of the time, he wouldn't even speak to anyone while in the library.
With much effort to divert his attention from the girl, he opened his book and flipped through the pages. He realized he had forgotten what it was that he wanted to read about, and he tried not to look lost by stopping at a random chapter and reading the first few lines of the text. None of it seemed to make sense as his mind was being taken over by the mere presence of the girl. She's a Gryffindor. What am I thinking?? He cursed silently, not even conscious that he had been staring at a random word on the page for the past ten seconds or so.
All of a sudden, he heard the girl speak to him. He raised his gaze to meet with hers. He was able to catch her name, Emily, and he smiled upon learning it. "I'm Zephyr," he replied. "Same year, Slytherin." He felt his face grow a bit warm. He had never really been so smitten with someone at first sight. "It's odd, but I think I've never seen you in any of my classes before."

Her gaze met his and she suddenly looked away. What was wrong with her? She was never usually like this around people. Before she was of course in Beauxbatons and that was an all girls school and blah blah but among any other guys she had met before, none of them were really like this. He was someone special she knew that and that made her feel all not her self around him.
"I'm Zephyr, Same year, Slytherin." This was so extremely unusual. Yeah she had only just come to Hogwarts, but her dad told her everything she ever wanted to know before she even came to the school. He had been telling her all sorts of stories from the age of 11 to her. And a gryffindor and a slytherin weren't supposed to talk to each other properly. It would only be rude comments or remarks between the two.
Zephyr. nice name she thought to herself. "It's odd, but I think I've never seen you in any of my classes before." Yeah, I just transferred here from Beauxbatons, long story. But that's how you haven't seen me around in one sentence. she said smiling at him. It was indeed a long story made short. If she ever met him again, then she would tell him everything and her history basically.

When Emily looked away, Zephyr's initial thought was that he must have said something wrong. His face grew even warmer, and by then, he was well aware that he was already blushing. But when she replied to him, he couldn't help but feel a bit relieved. At least he knew he hadn't screwed up with his introduction.
Zephyr nodded as he listened to her. He had heard of Beaubaxtons before and that it was exclusively for girls. He wondered if all girls in that school were as beautiful as Emily. But that sounded quite impossible to him. There couldn't possibly be anyone more beautiful than her.
"I've been in Hogwarts since my first year," he said. "I'm sure you'll enjoy it here." He couldn't believe those words were coming out of his own mouth. He was actually being warm and friendly (or possibly even more) with a Gryffindor. He must have eaten something weird. He smiled at Emily anyway.

She now got a little more comfortable around him, but she still wasn't used to sitting right opposite to such a wonderful guy and talking to him normally. She just pulled her book nearer again and flipped through the pages, she couldn't really get this conversation started. Except for those one lines that they kept replying to, all they did was look at each other, smile and look away. I mean come on! 16 year olds were better than that.
Flipping through those pages of her defence against the dark arts book, she heard Zephyr's voice through the silence. It fell to her ears like honey to her lips. A small smile curved on her face for the n'th time and said Oh so you weren't sent to some other school at all? in response to I've been in Hogwarts since my first year Well that was good then, he could help her to find her way around the school if she ever got lost ,which would be quite often seeing that she was not so good with directions and was brand new in a whole new school which looked like the hugest place she had ever seen.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. She sure hoped she did cause then, she could actually do all the stuff her dad told her about. I sure hope i do. she told him. But first I got learn to get around the school first. she added. That bit was in fact very true.

"Yes, I've always been a Hogwarts student since the beginning, " Zephyr said in response to her first question. He had really known no school other than Hogwarts. Prior to that, he was simply home-schooled by his grandmother and had little to no experience in mingling with other children. Socializing and being outright friendly was something he had always found difficult ever since he stepped into the halls of Hogwarts castle. It really surprised him now that he was entertaining questions from a Gryffindor and even smiling at her from time to time.
Zephyr straightened himself a bit on his chair and loosened his Slytherin tie. "I could offer to show you around," he started, "but, mind you, I don't think I'm the best tour guide you could possibly have." He shrugged his shoulders and sighed. There were one or two good reasons for that. Basically, he just wasn't the outgoing type who had a lot of friends he could hang out with in different places. He did know his way around Hogwarts, but most of the things he knew about certain areas of the school were from his own perspective or from stuff he read in books. He would have no fun experiences to tell or crazy stories or urban legends. For that, he feared that Emily would not enjoy his company. But why did he even care? He had never made an effort to please anyone, so why start now? He figured it was that mesmerizing look in Emily's eyes that was compelling him to be nice to her and to want her to like him. He wanted to mentally kick himself for being such a typical guy.
"But if you're up for it," he said, "I could try to give you a little tour..." He gave her a hopeful look. Even he couldn't deny that he wanted to spend some time with her.

"Yes, I've always been a Hogwarts student since the beginning, " So he hadn't experienced different schools. Well, that was lucky for Emily cause then, she had someone whom she really liked in the sense, have a humongous crush on to take her around the school. This also meant extra time for the two of them to spend together. She might not know this, but Zephyr did have a crush on her too, well at first sight at least.
She smiled and said That's alright. I mean I get to spend a little more time with you. she told him. And then, a second later she realized what she had just said. What in the right world was she doing? Had she just said that aloud? No that couldn't have been so, if she did, she would come to know real soon and if it was true, it was the end of her carrier in Hogwarts. She had just come here with high expectations and the very first person she met, she had made a HUGE fool of herself. Sometimes, she had to just learn to control her emotions.
Trying to cover up what she had just said and her huge problem, she told him Yeah, that would be great. she said happily. If she wasn't wrong, Zephyr here had a little hint of hopefulness on his face too. Was this really going on? Something was very extremely weird going on between the two of them and Emily at least had the least bit of idea as to what exactly that was.

Somewhere along the way, his initial purpose for coming to the library had been forgotten. All of a sudden, it was just all about this girl right in front of him. He knew there was already some kind of connection between them, what with the way she smiled and looked at him. Zephyr felt his heart pounding. He was well aware that most guys his age would have already had at least a bit of experience with girls, but all this --- his meeting with Emily and the feelings that came along with it --- was something very new to him. He could attribute it to his being anti-social, but then again, there were supposed to be more than enough girls in the school that he could be attracted to; yet he was particularly captivated by this one.
A new smile formed on his lips as an exchange for her words. He was about to stand up from his chair and ask her to come with him when his gaze fell upon her books. Zephyr settled himself back down on his chair. "Oh.. I could show you around if... you're not so busy," he said, a bit unsure of himself. He did not know whether that was the right thing to say or if he was being rude. He simply did not want to get in her way if she was doing something important.

Oh.. I could show you around if... you're not so busy," She could see the hesitation in his voice. Well if he was hesitant, he wouldn't have offered to show her around the castle in the first place. She shrugged that off and only minutes later she realized he was saying that all cause of her books. How very stupid of her. She smiled and said Oh, is it cause of these books? Well if it is, I just came in here for a little bit of exploring in the first place, nothing to do with reading. as she closed her Defence Against the Dark Arts book and stood up waiting for Zeph to lead the way and eventually, she would walk next to him. She didn't want it to seem like she was some other kid who was just walking past him or following him to a classroom or something but she wanted to walk alongside him.
((sorry about the shortness))
