Once your character has been accepted, you may start role-playing. But not until you've read these rules.
1. No one-liner RP posts. Keep your posts to at least five lines. Remember that it is hard for the next person to reply to your post if it's too short.
**NOTE: We don't require you to make long RP's. As said, at least five lines is fine. However, take into consideration the other roleplayer/s who is/are participating in whatever thread you are in. ParaPara Hogwarts is supposed to be an INTERMEDIATE to ADVANCED role-playing game. In other sites of the same level, they strictly require much longer role-play posts. We're actually a bit kind. ^^
2. Keep grammatical and spelling errors to a minimum. Learn to use the spell check that comes handy with our boards. In addition to this rule, please do not use text, chat, or L337 language.
3. Role-play in third person. If you don't know what that is, here's an example:
GOOD: Harry rushed into the Great Hall and spotted Ron hiding under the Gryffindor table. "What are you doing there??" he asked his red-haired, freckled friend.
BAD: I ran into the Great Hall, and, oh my god, like, there he was. Guess where?? Right under the Gryffindor table. Like, what was he doing there??!1 "What are you doing there??" I totally said.
**In journals or letters, 1st person is allowed, naturally.
4. We only do paragraph/story book role-plays. No *star text*.
GOOD: Ron nudged Harry. "We shouldn't be here."
BAD: *nudges Harry* Dude, we shouldn't be here.
5. No slang words or phrases. I doubt we'll ever hear a Hogwarts student speak like this: "That shiznit is like so totally the bomb!" (Excuse my pitiful attempt in using slang. It's not my first language, obviously.)
6. As you've probably noticed by now, all these rules are in English. We expect everyone to role-play in the same language.
7. NO GOD MODDING and POWER PLAYING. God Modding is having your character know things that he or she is not supposed to know in-character. Unless a piece of information is spoken to your character during role-play, he or she could not know about it in any way. Power playing is controlling someone else's character during role-play. You cannot do something like this:
Harry cast a spell on Voldemort and it hit him right dead smack on his forehead and caused him to fall to the ground and hit his head on a rock and die. "Hagrid! I've killed him!" Harry called out to Hagrid, who spun around and threw a victorious fist in the air. If Harry's role-player had followed the rules, they would have waited for Voldemort's reaction to the spell that Harry cast, and they would not have controlled Hagrid's reaction as well.
8. Absolutely no unauthorized deaths. No murders, suicides, acts of terrorism, homicides, 'accidental' deaths through role-play, or any other form of dying. That is unless you discuss your character's death with us, the RPG staff, beforehand.
In relation to deaths, any suicidal act, such as wrist-slashing or doing drugs, is not allowed.
9. No graphic sex scenes, please. As stated in the general board rules, these boards are rated PG-13. At least try to keep your role-plays within that level. If you really find it necessary for your characters to have sex, just do not go into details. This isn't a porn site. Keep your role-plays tasteful.
10. Since we've already gone into the topic of sex, we might as well discuss character sexualities. Characters of all genders are welcome to our site. We allow slash/shounen-ai and femmeslash/shoujo-ai on these boards. However, we do not permit yaoi or yuri. (see rule #9) If you do not know what those are, chances are you won't be breaking this rule anyway.
Violation of any one of these rules may cause the suspension of your character.
If you have any questions, PM the admin or any available staff member.
